Search engine optimisation (SEO) doesn’t have to be hard and confusing to implement. It’s a really straight-forward process if you know what you want to achieve. My following a simple few optimisation techniques, you can have your website optimised in no time.

When optimising your website with the techniques explained below, it doesn’t mean that you are going to get the best rankings and be on the first page for your targeted keywords, but this is a start. Find below a couple of tips that can help you with this.

SEO optimisation tips

Title: This is the most important element of SEO. Use your targeted keyword in the beginning of the title and follow it with the next one. Every page on your site should have a unique title and the keywords you use in the title should be relevant to the content of the page.

Headings: Don’t use heading tags (H1, H2, H3) just for styling options. Use your keywords in the headings and subheadings in your content and start with the most important heading (H1) followed by H2, H3, etc. You should only have one H1 on a page, but can have multiple H2’s and H3’s.

Content: This will be the heart of your website and you should only use keyword optimised unique content written specifically for your readers and not the search engines. Content is king and the more unique and relevant content you have on your site the better. The easiest way to add more content to your website is by adding a blog to your site. Each time you publish a blog post it’s seen as a new page on your site.

Links: Once you have your content in place and regularly adding unique and relevant content to your site, it’s time to reach out and start getting links to your website and content. Reach out to other bloggers and industry experts to link to your website and provide them with value.

Analytics: It’s important that you measure your website and all the pages on your site. If you don’t know what is happening on your website, you will have no idea of improving it. Look at the visitors you are getting, the keywords used to browse to your website, the top visited pages and the bounce rate. This will give you a clear indication if your SEO plan and optimisation is working and where you can fix problems.
